The "productivity" trap

Hi Reader,

I was reflecting on myself and the people who I am in community with..

We know how to be productive. We know how to hit the goal, close the deal, deliver the result, and keep every plate spinning while everyone around us wonders how we do it all. Achievement has always been our standard so it can begin to feel like it comes naturally to us.

We built an identity around proving our worth through output, and the more we accomplished, the more we tied our value to the next accomplishment. At some point rest began to feel like proof that we were "falling behind."

What I've grown to understand is that we are always selecting a reality through our attention, our awareness, and our focus. When every ounce of that focus goes toward achieving, we can stay in a loop where our worth is always one accomplishment away.

Our true power comes from recognizing that our value already exists as a settled fact, fully independent of what we produce.

This is the recalibration we’re doing together in Bali this September. High achieving women, gathering to witness the identity we built for survival, root into the one built for wholeness, and finally experience what it feels like to receive instead of earn. Ceremony, movement, beach time, stillness, all designed for women whose nervous systems need more practice on how to slow down.

We also have a world renowned retreat photographer joining us, so we will be returning with images that reflect the divinity underneath all of our achieving.

Only 3 spots remain for the Bali Identity Recalibration Retreat, September 15 through 21.

Have a spectacular week!

With so much love,

Meg

Hi Reader, I used to think complaining was venting. I thought I was letting go of whatever was bothering me, and there was real relief in it, especially the part where the people around me would agree, relate and validate my "problems". What I did not realize for a long time is that I was creating a self fulfilling prophecy. Every time I told the story of what was wrong, I was giving my attention to it again, reinforcing it, teaching my own life to keep producing more of it. The relief was...

Hi Reader, There’s a moment most of us know well, the one right before a new week starts, where dread starts creeping in ahead of schedule. We start running through all of our obligations, responsibilities and deadlines before they arrive. The inbox messages that need a response, the conversation(s) that need to be had, phone calls that need to be made, issues that need following up on that we've been avoiding. We sometimes unconciously envision and brace for a negative version of the week...

Hi Reader, Every sentence we repeat becomes a belief. Every belief we repeat becomes an identity. Every identity we repeat becomes the reality we are currently experiencing. The word impeccable comes from the Latin for without sin, and applied to our speech that means something specific. Our word stays *without* harm against ourselves, no shame talk, no self attack dressed up as honesty. Our word stays *without* harm against another person, no gossip, no permanent verdict thrown onto someone...
